DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR PUBLIC COMMENT ON SHAPING OUR FUTURE
The deadline for public comment on the Department of the
Environment's draft regional Strategic Framework for Northern
Ireland has been extended to Friday, 16 April.
A number of organisations and individuals have made representations
indicating that the original closing date of 15 February,
1999 was too tight for adequate consideration of the important
regional issues set out in the draft document.
Throughout the 'Shaping our Future' process, the Government
has emphasised the importance of community involvement to
the process of developing the Framework and for that reason
it was agreed to extend the period for public comment.
In accordance with the Belfast Agreement commitment to make
rapid progress on drawing up a Regional Development Strategy,
the DOE published the draft Framework document on 8 December,
1998.
Anyone wishing to comment on the Draft Strategy should do
so by writing to:
The Director
Regional Planning Division
Department of the Environment
6th Floor, Windsor House
